When deciding on the groom's ring, the biggest decision is what kind of metal it is made out of. There are a lot more option than the typical gold or platinum women's rings. Gold and platinum tend to be the more expensive option and are not always the best option for a man that works with his hands. Gold can lose it's lustre from harsh chemicals and can be scratched. White gold is plated with rhodium, which wears over time and may need to be redone. While platinum is the strongest jewelry metal, it does scratch. However, it is nearly impossible to chip. A jeweler can polish back it's shine if scratched. But, if the groom is going to scratch it very often it may become a pain to take it in all of the time. Palladium is from the platinum family and is one of the rarest metals in the world. It is a white metal and will always remain white. It is also more durable than regular platinum. Sterling silver may be a good price for a men's ring but it is very soft and can be damaged very easily (not a good option for a long-term ring). There are other options that are just as affordable and much more durable. Titanium is extremely durable, affordable, and stylish. However, Tungsten has all of the same benefits as Titanium and is nearly impossible to scratch!

I love when couples decide to serve something cold at an outdoor ceremony in the summer time. It's a nice surprise to guests and if things get started a little late they will be preoccupied. Guests would love a smoothie cart. They could order their own smoothie, any flavor they want or even a frozen coffee.

Ice cold lemonade is a great refresher on a hot day. Serve it in mason jars for a more vintage look.

Popsicles are a great way to cool down a hot crowd.

I love this booze and berries!
I am planning an amazing trip to Europe this September. My husband and I are going with another couple (and leaving the kids at home!). We are flying into Rome and flying out of London, with many stops along the way. I can't wait to tour the Buckingham Palace. Kate Middleton's dress will be on display there from July 23- October 3. They will also display her veil, tiara, shoes, and diamond earrings that she wore on April 29th. I cannot wait to see it all up close and I really really can't wait for this trip! Although I am sad to leave the little ones behind, they will be in good hands. Thank goodness for 4G phones and Skype!
You're engaged..... You set your date.....Booked your venue.....now what? Send out your save the dates! Save the dates are not a must, however if you are planning your wedding a year or more out it is a good idea to send them. It is the first piece your guests will see and it sets the tone for your wedding. It does not necessarily have to go with your theme (you might not even have a style or colors decided. Have fun with it! Find something original. Make your guests look forward to your upcoming wedding.

I found these neat save the dates on Etsy.

This save the date from Once Wed is adorable!

You can personalize these neon pencils for only $19.80 for 36!
Today I spent a wonderful day at the Detroit Zoo with my boys and our friends. Of course I was thinking about a wedding at the zoo for a different venue. For your reception you can have it at the Wildlife interpretive Gallery. It is the glass-domed bird house and holds up to 140 guests. For an exotic site you could have your reception at the Arctic Ring of Life. This is the building with underwater views of the polar bears and seals. There is room for a 50 guest seated dinner or 75 guest cocktail reception. They are currently working on an event pavillion for an outdoor event space. There are other buildings and outdoor areas that may be used as well. Whether you're an animal lover or just want something a little out of the box, you might want to check the Detroit Zoo
We all know that different kinds of flowers have different prices. Flowers that are out of season can usually be found in different locations for a little more money. A lot of flowers vary in price by color. For instance if you were to get purple hydrangeas right now they would be 3-4 times the price of white hydrangeas. The hottest trend from Japan is to dye flowers. Flowers that may not come in a color naturally, you can have them dyed to the color you want!
When I first saw an uncovered cake in Brides Magazine I wasn't sure how I felt about it with out the frosting and fondant. But I kind of like the idea. It looks different (definitely not as pretty without all the frosting). I think a lot of people would enjoy it without all of the frosting. Often people complain that frosting is too sweet. Look at these awesome uncovered cakes by Momofuku Milk Bar in NYC.
