Flyaway veil: a wispy, multilayered veil that sweeps the shoulders. Elbow veil: an A-line veil ending anywhere from the elbows to the fingertips. Fingertip veil: most versatile, this style is usually multilayered and touches the end of your fingertips. Sweep veil: a veil that brushes the ground, extending 8-12 inches beyond the gown. Chapel veil: a veil that extends to the floor, falling seven feet from the headpiece; may have multiple layers or a blusher veil. Cathedral veil: regal veiling that trails one to three yards behind the dress. By Kylie Boutonniere is French for a “buttonhole flower”. It represents masculine luxury as well as adds flair and sophistication to the attire. Here are a few twists and tips for your next encounter with the buttonhole flower. Make the boutonniere a matching “accessory” to the tie. It adds uniformity to the groomsmen and looks very polished and clean up at the altar. Make a “Mini bouquet” for the boutonniere to match the bride’s bouquet. Get two boutonnieres in case one gets ruined from all the hugging Offer boutonnieres for the guests. Don’t forget to provide pins. You don’t always need to have an extravagant floral boutonniere. Try keeping it simple and change it up to go with the theme of your wedding. By Melissa I have been a total slacker on the blog lately :( In my defense I was really busy with a wedding last week. If you want to change up your dress a little or add some color a sash is a great idea. There are some gorgeous sashes out there that are sure to make a statement on your wedding day. If you do not want any color, there are plenty of white sashes that will dress up your gown. If you are crafty, you could even make one your self. By Kate Everyone knows the old saying that „something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue“ are the most common fortuitous tokens for a wedding. Just in case, someone (like me:) didn't know the exact meaning behind it, here it is. (source: inframe bride, Michigan 2011-2012) I also attached some pictures (found on weddinginspirasi.com) of wedding dresses inspired by different decades Something old: To signify the bride's connection with her family and the past, and continuity with her newly formed family. Something new: A representation of optimism for the newlyweds, a gift to remind them to approach their new life together in hope. Something borrowed: A demonstration of community living. Typically borrowed from a happily married woman, this trinket symbolizes the importance of relying on friends and family. Something blue: Denotes a healthy union overflowing with faithfulness and loyalty. And a silver sixpence in her shoe:) Brings good fortune and financial prosperity to the marriage. By Melissa A little while back I had the opportunity to work with a great group of vendors on a fun styled shoot. When Miranda from Inner Circle Photography first approached me about the idea of doing a shoot, she suggested a theme based on the movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World". I immediately ordered it on Netflix so I could see what this was all about it. Although, I cannot say that it was my kind of movie, I had some ideas. It was definitely a challenge for me, but I am always up for a challenge :) The shoot took place at the Andiamo Novi Theatre. I chose to do it there because it had a stage, a lot of the movie takes place with the band on a similar stage. I decided to super hero colors- red, blue, and yellow. I incorporated black and white polka dots throughout (the background in a comic book). For the centerpiece I used several different size vases filled with clear gel balls with red lights. I hand painted the chargers, the star girl in the movie carries a purse with a star on it like this. Tanya from Domestic Arts Custom Cakes nailed it on the awesome three tiered cake. Amity from Marbella Couture designed and hand-made the perfect bridal gown. She even incorporated the polka dots :) Andi from ElliBell Creative Services did an amazing job on the stationery, she even drew the pictures by hand! I had such a blast doing my first shoot with an incredible group of vendors. I will share the video tomorrow. Here's how........ Make Up- Bella has a very natural look with smokey eyes. For foundation use a light mineral powder. Use a natural tone for blush. Lips are kept light. Use a dark eyeliner on the top lid only. Next, use a smoky chestnut shade of eye shadow. Lastly, apply mascara. Hair- Her hair is in a loose bun with soft wisps of hair curled slightly at the front. She has two braids that wrap around her head, secured at the back into the bun. Veil- Bella is wearing a diamond hair piece with some blue stone flowers and her white veil attached to it. Dress- We will have to wait until Friday to see what the dress looks like. But from the pic below you can see it has a fitted bodice and has long sleeves. Fall weather is certainly here! If you are having a fall wedding, you might want to consider a cover-up. You could wear a cute shrug, cardigan, cape, or shawl. Here are some of my favorites...
